Meet Tom
WIERMANN
FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM
Tom, or as his friends and family call him “Tommy,” is a life long Long Islander. Born and raised in Franklin Square, he graduated from H. Frank Carey High School, attained an Associates degree from Nassau Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Hofstra University and a Masters degree in Science from Hofstra University as well. After working in the business world for several years Tom changed careers to do what he loved most: Teaching physical education and health, coaching sports and serving as an adjunct professor at Manhattanville College. He maintained these positions up until the fall of 2021.
Serving within the community and investing in people is nothing new to Tom and he relishes the chance to do it at a state level as your assemblyman.
Twelve years ago he moved his family east and settled in Port Jefferson Station. He loves the history of the town and surrounding villages and often visits historical sites related to George Washington’s spy ring which had its roots in the neighboring town of Setauket. There, he lives with his wife Amanda and two children, Emma and Tommy.
His faith and family are everything to him and he will do everything he can to ensure they live in a free state and can follow the American dream.
His hobbies include playing with his pets (two cats, Princess Leia and Mr. Moo and dog, Copper), playing guitar, watching his favorite sports teams (Jets, Islanders, Yankees and Knicks), working out and hiking. He also loves 80’s rock and metal and is happy to say his kids do too! His wife? Not so much but she’s getting there! He and his family love the thrills and adventure of traveling and experiencing nature’s wonders..
His volunteer activities have included coaching local football, baseball, basketball and most recently, ice hockey teams. He is also very active in his local church as he spent years volunteering with its youth group, Sunday school classes, homeless ministries and other areas where needs have arisen.
